|BEAUTY CAN SAVE OUR WORLD|

Last week, my colleague from Hiphonest, Ingrid Horsselenberg and me have been selecting work of Dutch designers in fashion and products. The exposition ‘Beauty can save our world’ will be presented at the kick off of TheKeY, an eco-fashion trade fair in Berlin.
From July 1-5, during Berlin Fashion Week, Berlin will be the centre of innovative fashion. People in fashion like retailers, designers, entrepreneurs and media will be spotting new trends at the popular Bread and Butter, Premium, and of course at the streets where ultra hip Berliners will be promenading.
TheKEY is the place to go for green fashion, sustainable lifestyle and culture. A vibrant selection of sustainable fashion labels ranging from street wear to high fashion will be displayed. With slow-food gastronomy, fashion shows, workshops and parties, theKeY presents the entire progressive lifestyles spectrum at an unique place in fashion-trendy Neukölln. I can’t wait to check out new collections of other participators like the Ethical Fashion Show from Paris and label Komodo from the U.K.
What makes researching for our Hiphonest exhibition so incredibly exciting are the creative solutions and statements designers are coming up with. Feathering designer Wieteke Opmeer for example, will present her project ‘Seeds of wonder’. Her temporary necklace brings flowers after wearing, a very poetic view on sustainability. Inspirator Nanna van Blaaderen will showcase beautifully knitted dresses to underline the importance of handicraft and slow design.
Besides this exhibition, Ingrid and I will give a trend forecast based on our Hiphonest S-value concept. Aim of this forecast is to show the visitors the pallet of fresh possibilities and opportunities in sustainable design, styles and stories. Most import thing is to choose your own way and make it something personal.
