FEARLESS.jpg

The world of Ecofashion is quite small actually; it’s quite easy to connect with other eco-minded creative souls on the other site of this planet. Designers teaming up easily when they are sourcing for production of fabrics. Clean & Unique, for example, is a platform for small fashion labels and fashion designers with a common interest in green business.

Thanks to an EFW skype meeting I get in contact with Abigail Doan, who became my favorite ecofashion trend blogger! Abigail introduced me to Meiling Chen, a New York based ecofashion designer. Meiling visited Europe to research the market for her special label.

Meiling and I spent some lovely days in my hometown Amsterdam and in Berlin later during Berlin Fashion Week in Berlin. What I love about Meiling’s philosophy is her subtitle Fearless Dreamer that is recognizable in her designs. Her design wise handwriting, the strong lines in the silhouettes and the refined details make her collection very unique. As her goal is to bring fun and creativity to people’s daily lives through sustainable work, Meiling strives to create trend-defying, season-challenging, and socially responsible apparel that is beautiful, but also deeply expressive of the lives of the people that wear it.

For me ‘A fearless dreamer’ is a beautiful quote that helps reminding me to fear less and follow my dreams.

Eco Fashion Fact

Vegetable Fiber

Vegetable fibers are derived from the stem, leaf or seed of various plants. In many cases, the technique is ancient and is now being rediscovered as an ecological alternative to the polluting cotton industry.
