The Essentials

Ayuvastra Healing Fabrics is an Irish company selling high quality men and women's leisure wear/yoga wear, baby wear, fabric and bed linens, which are not only eco-friendly but also confer health benefits!

Ayuvastra Healing Fabrics is run by Ema Staunton, an Irish graduate in textile design from NCAD, Ireland and Aslam Noor, from Kerala, South India, home of ayurveda.

The company takes its name (Ayuvastra) from the ancient Indian technique (Ayurvastra) of dyeing textiles using medicinal herbs which are absorbed through the skin. The technique was developed as a branch of Ayurveda, the 5,000-year-old Indian system of healthcare. Ema and Aslam are working in partnership with a Kerala Weaving co-operative using dye recipes handed down from a family of ayurvedic physicians to dye their fabrics.

Ayuvastra's mission is to promote sustainable fashion practices, support ancient traditions and help heal the individual mind, body and spirit with fabrics and clothing that are specifically designed to enhance health and well-being.

Ethic-Chic

The company’s products are designed in Ireland and made from certified organic cotton (GOTS Certified) then dyed with natural, medicinal dyes from organically grown plants in Kerala, south India. Their entire dye process is completely free of synthetic chemicals and toxic irritants and is totally organic and bio-degradable. The dye waste is used as natural manure for plants. The process is kind to the environment, the people who make it and the people who wear it.

Their current range is based around the principle that the most effective time to benefit from healing fabric is when the body is most relaxed. The Ayuvastra range is soft, comfortable and comes in beautiful earthy shades.  Additional ranges and organic silk will be added to the collection in coming months.
