| AND THE WINNER IS... |

Congratulations to Nicole Bridger who just won the Fashion Takes Action (FTA) Design Forward Award! We interviewed Nicole last month and loved her designs and strong down-to-earth business approach. FTA said that Nicole Bridger has thought about the "extras" when it comes to buttons, labels and hangtag alternatives. This strengthens her commitment to sustainable design as there is a bigger picture mentality going on. FTA launched the award to recognize the many talented fashion designers in Canada who have gone out of their way to become more sustainable. With a set of criteria in place, they were able to filter nearly 40 designers down to the 14 nominees that were announced in March. After an intense voting period that saw more than 4000 votes from the public, the top 3 finalists were announced on Earth Day. A final deep dive by three judges including Summer Rayne Oakes, brought the result of the voting process. Last week FTA announced that Nicole Bridger is the inaugural winner of Design Forward and will receive a prize valued at $50,000. To us, Nicole Bridger is a winner among many because all other nominees contribute to the versatility of the Canadian eco design landscape. Check out the different interviews we have done with several of them over the past few weeks and get inspired! And while Canada has voted on its favorite eco fashion designer, the UK's Observer has just released its shortlist for the Ethical Awards. In the category fashion, From Somewhere, Pachacuti and Antiform – ReMade in Leeds, are runners up to win this important award! The winners will be announced at a ceremony, hosted by Colin Firth and Lucy Siegle, in June at a location in London.
