Not on the wall but on your back comes this new eco bag by Stella McCartney. Bags made of recycled materials are not a new concept, but have you ever seen a design like this? With X-mas approaching Stella might have envisaged streets full of reindeer, but American animal organizations don’t think that’s a very romantic picture. Even though it’s made out of recycled polyester and other ‘green’ materials.

The reindeer backpack by Stella Mc Cartney for LeSportsac is available in two colors. The eggplant ‘Silence’ and a greyish version called ‘Night’ with the reindeer itself printed in gold. A fine detail is the zipper of wood and shiny metal in the shape of a reindeer. The British designer used the same materials for other bags that evoked less critical reactions. The Canteen Bag costs $ 175 and you can make the Classic Carryall yours for $ 225 which is still a lot more then the price of a reindeer: $ 85. Both classic bags resemble Mc Cartney’s work for Adidas which brought her media attention. Being a vegetarian, people accused her of the idea of using kangaroo leather which is popular for soccer shoes. Even dad Mc Cartney, the other fanatic animal lover of the family, got questions about his daughter’s choices. But Stella is not afraid of rocking the boat a bit. When her dad was being torpedoed by the press and his ex-one-legged-wife Heather Mills, she designed a little hanger in the shape of a leg.

Eco Fashion Fact

Custom-Made or Tailor-Made

We can also call it demi-couture or made to order. The classic example is the men’s suit that’s made by a tailor who takes body measurements and produces a suit unique to every customer.  The reason we consider it “eco” is that you get exactly what you want and therefore are more likely to love it longer.
