The Andean Collection
Our team at Eco Fashion World thought it would be appropriate and helpful to introduce a series targeted at aiding readers in understanding the varying criteria which compose ‘eco fashion’. With the popularity of ‘eco fashion’ growing, there still seems to be a lot of confusion about particular aspects and beyond that, there are still many people who have no idea what it is. The series is planned to read in a ‘textbook basics’ format with added color in the form of corresponding images, specific brand and design examples, resource information and more, to tie it all together for our readers.
Dan Mims of TheEthicalMan.com
Through the series we look to cover a brief overall history of sustainable and ethical fashion, including a spotlight on some industry pioneers; fair trade practices, certifications, and governing bodies; organic fibres, materials, methods in the manufacturing process, and certification processes involved; natural dyeing of textiles including a review of techniques; recycled materials and ways they are transformed into new things; artisanal work, the traditions involved, and overall social benefits which may result; DIY projects with a list of resources to gather inspiration and instructions; and a focus on the glorious charm that is associated with vintage pieces, alongside their contribution to sustainability. Designers and their individual works will be featured in relation to each edition, tying their specific contributions to each area.
