When Vogue editor Anna Wintour first had her brilliant idea to create a night of fashion for all, she could not possibly have envisioned how far this idea would reach. Fashion's Night Out is not merely an opportunity for the masses to celebrate their love of clothing design in a public way; ethical brands across the US are now participating on many levels. In Los Angeles this September 8th, a group called Freedom and Fashion will host its REFASHION shopping event along LA's Downtown Art Walk. This shopping collective allows vendors who engage exclusively in fair trade and sustainable labor standards to sell their wares to the public. Freedom and Fashion is a non-profit organization whose main goal is to obliterate labor and sex trafficking and promote fair business practices in the fashion world. Proceeds from the Fashion's Night Out event will go to efforts to end modern day slavery. Brands on board for the first-annual event include Falling Whistles, Krochet Kids, Raven + Lily, Liberty in North Korea, and more. A shoe-art collection by assorted VIVA LA ART! artists will be on exhibition and guests will be able to purchase clothing, accessories, and jewelry for a good cause. The event runs from 6 to 10 pm at 354 Spring Street in Downtown LA; a donation of $5-10 will gain visitors exclusive discounts and other offers.
