Sustainable Fashion Never Looked Better
Trunk Show by Misty Greer
Vancouver Eco Fashion Week is gearing up for another great season starting this Wednesday October 5th, showcasing Runway Shows, Seminars, a Trade Show, and DJ Shopping. Vancouver's bi-annual event has grabbed the attention of media, fashion enthusiasts, and environmentally friendly consumers to celebrate responsible fashion. This 3-day event, located in the heart of Vancouver's historic Gastown, kicks off with its opening press conference at 2:00pm, followed by a Designer Panel consisting of celebrated designers: Nicole Bridger, Jason Matlo and Prophetik's Jeff Garner. The event is sure to be a success as it hosts over 30 different eco-friendly brands and collections on and off the runway for Spring 2012. Eco Fashion Week adds excitement this year with the addition of vintage collections and runway shows. These shows include Gypsy Market Vintage, Trunk Show by Misty Greer and Myriam's Closet. Gypsy Market Vintage was created in 2008 by designer Sarah La Greca. The collection consists of notable fashion from the past century that focuses on trendsetting and renewed pieces that are one-of-a-kind. Trunk Show by Misty Greer is a fun high glam retro collection with ethical future-vintage pieces for the provocative and rebellious fashion fanatics. Greer is all about the costuming and quirky spirit of her collections.
Myriam's Closet
Myriam's Closet is a compilation of garments collected by Eco Fashion Week President Myriam Laroche. Vintage clothing has always been in demand and acceptance over the past decade has dramatically increased. Laroche has always been an advocate of vintage clothing and will be spearheading a seminar entitled "How & Why to Re-Use in Fashion." Eco Fashion Week is demonstrating that vintage can be high fashion too! Also new this year is DJ Shopping, which is a unique event that transforms a wholesale space to a boutique-like atmosphere for the public to come and experience exclusive on-site shopping. This is a great way to come out and support eco-friendly brands, network, and enjoy some great music with a drink in hand. The entire event takes place at Storyeum, 142 Water Street, October 5th-7th. Event schedule and tickets for fashion shows available online.
