This coming week, Amsterdam International Fashion Week (AIFW) will be the launching event for the Amsterdam Sustainability Institute for Fashion and Fabrics (ASIFF). Initiated by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce and the School for higher fashion education, the institute will focus on sustainability in fashion and textiles. Through research, training and consultancy, the institute aims to make Amsterdam a leader in the industry. The launch of ASIFF takes place on January 30th from 12-2 pm in the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam.

This edition of AIFW will also see the launch of the new fashion fair Plein 13'. Aside from regular fashion shows and trend presentations Plein 13 presents Ecoplein 13, a green fashion area. Here, labels such as Eco Couture, Merunisha Moonilal, Supernana, Bionat and LCC will show their latest collections and FairWear will give information on fair labeling of fashion.

A third reason to travel to AIFW is to visit Made By @ the ModeFabriek. Made By supports fashion labels getting certification and cleaning up their supply chains. During the ModeFabriek, you can have your old piece of clothing customized into a new and trendy item. Besides that, Made By gives away free organic cotton items every hour. Made By is located in segment Authentic, Hall 2, stand number 4.
