CLOTHING EXCHANGE AUSTRALIA

"Imagine a giant clothing store where everything is free…"

With the introduction of professionally organised clothing swapping (or 'swishing'), the tradition of swapping your gorgeous-but-unwanted clothes with sisters, cousins, neighbours and friends has just got a whole lot bigger. The phenomenon of clothes swapping continues to evolve and flourish in Australia with residents wising up to the fact that the estimated 1.7 million dollars a year they misspend on unused items could be put to better use elsewhere.

Enter the Clothing Exchange for its 6th consecutive year. The Clothing Exchange will be featured as part of the 'L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival'.

On Tuesday the 15th of March, women are invited to raid their wardrobes for fabulous-yet-no-longer-worn items and bring them along to the No Vacancy Galleryin Melbourne, to exchange with other like minded eco-fashionistas. Once you've purchased your ticket the only currency in use is buttons! This exciting event manages to satisfy patrons' cravings for a 'new' wardrobe whilst participating in an ethical, environmentally sustainable and very affordable event.

The details of the event are as follows:

Tuesday 15th March  2011
No Vacancy Gallery,
38-40 Jane Bell Lane, QV
Melbourne, Australia
6.30pm for a 7pm start
Tickets: $25
Patrons are invited to bring along up to 6 garments to exchange on the night.

If you cannot make it to the event in Melbourne, The Clothing Exchange holds monthly swapping eventsin five states around Australia with anywhere between 20 and 1700 people coming together to swap clothing at any given event. Visit the Clothing Exchange website to purchase tickets or get more information.

So if you (like me) have a wardrobe that features items of gorgeous clothing you no-longer fit into/wear, pick out the items you can bear to part with and prepare to give them a new lease of life!
