ESCAMA AT MORE THAN HIP
This weekend, Karl Lagerfeld and his entourage were spotted doing the rounds at the mega design exhibition Maison et Objet in Paris. The fashion designer is the godfather of the 2009 edition and rightly so: one of this year’s recurring themes was the influence of fashion on home design and vice versa. Several design brands had accessories and fabrics signed by fashion designers and fashion houses displayed their home collections.
MUDSHOES BY XCS
And lo and behold, we also found some fantastic eco fashion displayed amongst the tables and chairs. What first attracted our eye was a pair of stunning felt boots, always on the lookout for leather free footwear we approached that stand and learned that these wooly creations were made by a women’s cooperative in Nepal. Dutch designer Cecilia Suzanne Sluijter works her magic on original carpets and home wares as well as geometric rings and these comfy knee high boots. Sharing the stand with xcs was Dutch design store More Than Hip . We already knew about the fantastic recycled pull tab bags from Escama but discovered they also make some great jewelry from this raw material.
