Last Thursday, August 2 saw Hackney celebrating the rising Fashion community at its Olympic time expo venue, Hackney House. The event brought together various fashion businesses and organizations based in the borough and the majority of them included sustainable brands such as Lily Cole’s ‘The North Circular’ and ‘Here Today Here Tomorrow’.

Central to the exhibition was an installation by set designer Robert Storey which featured CFE (Centre for Fashion Enterprise) designers such as Baartmans and Siegel, Matthew Miller, William Richard Green, Teatum Jones, Georgia Hardinge, Sibling, Hermione De Paula and ethical designer Christopher Raeburn.

Another exciting installation was by DISC (Designer-Manufacturer Innovation Support Centre) which is a non-profit organization launched earlier this year to support London based designers/brands with their production and manufacturing needs. DISC has various experts ranging from a garment technologist, UK production manager, Global sourcing manager and jewellery manufacturing developer. With such a great variety of experts to help you find your perfect production match, I’m sure local production and sourcing shouldn’t be that difficult for London based designers/brands anymore!
