Christmas shopping has never felt so good. Make It productions is an art and craft extravaganza that takes place twice a year in Vancouver and Edmonton Canada. The curators, Jenna Herbut and her brother Chandler Herbut started this as a fun and upbeat craft show that their peers could come to. It has now become an incubator for Canadian artists, crafters, and designers to sell their unique, ethically made goods at a community based event. The show creates a funky and upbeat atmosphere by providing food and beverages as well as performances by local musicians and DJ’s. The DIY movement has been warmly embraced this past decade, which allows Make It to bring the best of hand made design into one room. This year Make It will be featuring over 110 designers from all over Canada including: Bird on a Wire, Divina-Denuevo, Ole Originals T-Shirt Co and Type B.
Bird On A Wire
Bird on a Wire is a small Edmonton company that is known for its beautiful handmade jewelry and feather earrings. The earrings come in a variety of different colours and lengths; the long and skinny rooster earrings being one of their most sought-after items this season.
Divina-Denuevo
Divina-Denuevo is a one-of-a-kind leather bag and accessory brand that was recently seen on Vancouver Eco Fashion Week’s runway in October. They create their unique and original hand bags by combining reclaimed leather with vintage hardware and adornments. Look for their beautiful messenger bags perfect for carrying your essentials with unique detailing and features.
Ole Orginials
Ole Orginials T-shirt Co is a line of limited edition t-shirts that are silk-screened by hand in Vancouver. Ole was created in order to make a more fitted t-shirt line with a vintage look and feel inspired by culture, symbolism and global randomness.
Type B
Type B is a unique handmade jewelry line designed by Brittany van Dyck. All of her pendants are two sided, combining found items such as sheet music, fabrics, maps, tickets, spoons or ribbons into an original design. For more information check out www.makeitproductions.com.
