It’s almost time to ring in 2010. Toast with bubbly, start on the New Year’s resolutions, wash the old year out and welcome a fresh new year in with wide open arms. You feel the excitement of the unknown and the blank canvas of 2010 is waiting for you to color it in all shades of health, happiness and success.

Celebration is in order and appropriate celebratory attire is most certainly required. Ring in the New Year feeling and looking your best in an earth friendly party dress. Here are some places you should peruse.

BTC Elements up-cycles and creates one of a kind beautiful garments and accessories. Gorgeous dresses are composed of vintage fabrications with beading and other intricate details while jewelry is made of recycled materials such as earrings from aluminum cans or old records and wood bracelets cut out of previously loved skateboards.

“Good planets are hard to find” is the motto to live by at Gypsy05. With a compelling fusion of organic fabrications, low impact dyes and water based printing, Gypsy05 creates dresses in flowing silhouettes and nature inspired hues. There are a wide variety of options in color combinations, lengths, and cuts to choose from making the choice a tough one but maybe you can buy one for New Year’s Eve and another for New Year’s Day brunch?

LARSEN GRAY

Larsen Gray is the result of a collaboration between season one Project Runway contestant Nora Caliguri and her friend Rachelyn Porter.  The eco-line uses organic cotton, soy, bamboo, recycled polyester, recycled wool, and silk fabrics in the designs. Although many of the pieces are generally timeless and simple, they have aimed to add a dash of detail to make each piece standout and have succeeded greatly at doing just that.

People Tree is a widely known go-to online shop for fair trade organic clothing. Amid the dress options, you can’t help but admire a dramatic print kimono dress in organic cotton jersey designed by Eley Kishimoto. A fluid fit with a belt tie waist to accentuate the waistline.
