The world of couture is known for opulence and grandeur, and these themes weigh heavily when we conjure Paris Fashion Week in our minds. But one group of the fashionably-minded looks to push through these limiting stereotypes to create something truly impacting, the Ethical Fashion Show.

The Ethical Fashion Show in Paris began on September 1st and runs through the 4th. This year's event has seventy-five designers involved including men's, women's, and children's clothiers, accessories, shoes and more. On day 3, conferences were held to focus on environmental labeling, "Ecodesign" in fashion, and other relevant topics. Knitting and customization workshops were held, and visitors had the opportunity to experience the ethical Beauty Zone hosted by Dr. Haushka, Alime Pure, and Paperse.

Sunday, September 4th will be Public Day, with a conference on recycling, a TENCEL and Lenzing Modal catwalk contest, a riveting runway show featuring responsible designs, and another chance to enjoy the workshops and Beauty Zone from Saturday's program. The four-day extravaganza is an opportunity to enjoy fashion with a purpose, a time to think about not only the beauty of clothing and accessories, but the good that can come from making them in a responsible way.
