This week, July 1st to 5th, Berlin will be the meeting place of International fashionistas during Berlin Fashion Week. Aside from the appeal of edgy design that characterizes the German capital, one particular event is bringing ethics to the event this year: The Key will be presenting a strong selection of about 60 visionary and future minded brands that stand out for their green approach, innovation and style. The brands, labels and designers are all pioneers in creating sustainability in their production chain. Their innovative concepts and social business approaches are explorations in the ways in which future fashion and design can develop.

The Key will show a young and vibrant mix of innovative designer brands, from street styles like Slowmo and Jovoo from Berlin to middle and high brands like Van Markoviec from Arnhem and Studio Jux from Amsterdam, Po-Zu from London, and Patrick Lafrontiere from Paris. With brands like Knowledge Cotton Apparel from Denmark, Komodo from the UK and Ideo from France The Key also hosts pioneers that have explored the roads for a new generation of sustainable fashion brands.

Next to fashion The Key showcases several artists and designers that have a strong vision on sustainability. The exhibition « Beauty can save our world » by the Amsterdam based sustainable trend agency Hiphonest, the Free Culture Booth with Creative Commons and Open Design concepts, and an Ethical Fashion Show section with 22 mainly French ethical brands give the event an international allure.

The first home of The Key is the Imperial Post Office in Berlin Neukölln. The first three days are open for fashion and sustainability professionals. Saturday the 4th thekey.to is open for the public. During that day there will be special sales, workshops and the event FASHION RELOADED, a clothes swapping and restyling event and an exiting closing party.
