As Vancouver Eco Fashion Week rolled into its second day showcasing eco conscious brands, designers, and new collections for fall 2011, the runway proved to be the centre of the action. Shows by Echo Rain Apparel, Anna Talbot, Filly, Jessica Milton, The Battalion, and Adhesif warmed up the catwalk with a variety ranging from simple cuts in earthy colours to faux furs with a classic vintage feel.

One highlight of the evening was the debut of Vancouver-based designer Nicole Bridger's fall 2011 collection. The compilation showcased perfect perpetuation of Bridger's signature draping technique in flowing skirts and tunics, all made with certified organic cotton, bamboo and hemp. A clear Little Red Riding Hood, almost old English influence was evident in the collection with pleated shorts, large feminine hoodies, and bright leggings in earthy reds, yellows and oranges punctuating the line.

The final show of the night featured new collections from Alternative Apparel, Sitka, and WESC, all underscoring eco fashion's ability to be simultaneously fun and functional.

Alternative Apparel accentuated an updated beatnik vibe, showcasing sparkly metallic headbands to highlight long vests, loose long tanks with creative hemlines, and big bold scarves.

Victoria, Canada based Sitka worked a weekend-in-the-woods motif with cozy plaids, over-sized button down shirts, heavy denims and wooly sweaters for men and women. Not only did they prove that long johns and butt-flaps are a fashion-win, but they also reminded the crowd that axes are the accessory for this fall.

Closing the night was WESC's fall line for 2011. Dark denims and tailored jackets were central to both mens and women pieces, accessorized with voluptuous knit scarves and WESC-brand headphones. Brightly coloured dresses emphasized the sexy side of the line, while the finale showcased an elegant, flowing sleeveless dress with a mystical birds-in-flight scene, evoking imagery from a dark dream.

With a jam-packed and inspiring Day Two in the books, the crowd was left pleased and excited for the final day, sure to cause a stir at the unveiling of Prophetik's fall 2011 line.
