BODY POLITIC

At the helm of the sustainable shopping in Vancouver, body politic boutique will bring together the elite of the eco movement the night of August 25th from 6:30-9:00 at 208 E 12 Ave. to celebrate the inaugural Eco Fashion Week in Canada, re-launch of Granville Online (heir to Granville Magazine), and the new Aveda Institute of Vancouver. Ten percent of proceeds for the night of shopping will help support the David Suzuki Foundation .

At body politic, you will find a fresh mix of LA’s most well known green designers, like Stewart + Brown and Perfectly Imperfect, to the upcoming fresh faces of Vancouver’s eco scene, including Lav and Kush and Noir bonbon. During the event, body politic will also exclusively showcase for the first time in Canada, Dutzi Designs from Mexico. Originally developed to help the people of the Yucatan when the Swine Flu hit Mexico’s economy, Dutzi is now helping to support both the community and women of the Yucatan through the sales of their burlap handbag collection. All proceeds go directly back to the women who design the bags and to enable them to provide for their families.

body politic shoppers know they are not only making a conscious ecological choice to support local North American manufacturing, but also have confidence that all their purchases represent the sustainable, limitless design philosophy the shop was built upon. Owner Nicole Ritchie-Oseen says, “At body politic we began with the belief that sustainable and eco-friendly clothing didn’t mean sacrificing style. The goal was to fuel our absolute love of fashion and distinct style without compromising our environment, our community, or ourselves!”

Also, to celebrate the launch of the new Granville Online, Vancouver’s source for real city living, and Aveda Canada’s new Gastown institute location, Granville and Aveda will also be giving you a chance to win an eco makeover at the body politic ‘Eco Shops for a Cause’ event. The winner will have a day of beauty at the Aveda Institute on Water St. and a shopping spree from body politic. To enter and for more info, go to www.granvilleonline.ca/contests
