Fall is traditionally defined by its colors: the browns, oranges and earth tones that reflect the changing seasons. However, this doesn’t mean that accessory collections can’t be both bright and bold. A mix of fall staples, as well as bright accent pieces, The Andean Collection’s fall 2009 jewelry line has utilized seeds such as açai, jabon, tagua (vegetable ivory) and huayruro to create everyday-wearable jewelry. Its fall collection debuted in the beginning of September and was featured at the Ethical Fashion Preview of Nolcha Fashion Week New York on September 14. New pieces include sophisticated, sustainable seed designs like a 75-inch, extra long Açai Rope Necklace resembling a long strand of pearls. The length makes it a versatile necklace that can be wrapped around two, three or four times to create different looks, ideal to be worn with a fall tweed or as a centerpiece for a night on the town. The Andean Collection also knows its fashionista customers well, and anticipates them wearing the pieces in every capacity possible. As such, it’s suggested that the extra long açai rope double as a bracelet or a belt.
While previously the jewelry collection has shown off the natural materials from Ecuador, The Half Moon Coconut bracelet is one of the most striking offerings for this fall. Made from real coconut, it’s the perfect mix of sophistication and sustainability that comes in its natural color, a deep brown, or a black. For a more casual daytime look, the pambil necklaces and bracelets are both classic and simple, and come in bright dyed colors for those who want to hold onto summer for as long as possible!
