It was just over a year ago that we interviewed John Patrick ORGANIC for EFW’s magazine, and since then this American eco fashion pioneer has continued to fine tune his vision of creating timeless organic clothes, as well as being a well-deserving recipient of this year’s Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation’s Sustainable Design Award. Ecco Domani’s award categories for the 2009 - 2010 season include four womenswear awards, a menswear award, an accessories award, and the new sustainable design award worth $25,000.

jo-organic-resort04.jpgWe are genuinely excited to see what John Patrick ORGANIC will showcase on the opening day of New York Fashion Week   this Thursday, February 11. Last autumn’s ORGANIC presentation at the 124-year-old Keens Steakhouse in mid-town Manhattan was quite a morsel to chew for NYFW’s green set, and the upcoming A/W2010 presentation is sure to be even more theatrical with some interesting and clever collaborations under John Patrick’s straw boater .

jp-organic-resort01.jpgThe ORGANIC Resort Collection for 2010 continued on the theme of classic separates that are wash-and-wear chic and totally covetable in their layered appeal. Organic cotton on fresh-faced models really sends a powerful message when fashion cynics are just not sure what sustainable fashion has over the rest of the pack. We love that John Patrick designs and operates with a fashion-forward agrarian agenda – planting, tilling, and harvesting his labors in a manner jp-organic-resort05.jpgthat is very much about the present but also crafted with future generations in mind. There are not many award-winning fashion designers who can pull the following seeds of change out of their pocket, “I would like to be able to support many farmers in remote places so that they may participate in the 21st century’s interest in all things organic and agrarian. We need to support individual farmers through fashion, and think of the entire supply chain and who it is actually feeding.”

Stay tuned for our coverage of John Patrick ORGANIC’s A/W 2010 Collection at NYFW.
