London Fashion Week always surprises with something new and revolutionary. For the past few seasons, the most exciting change is in the process as much as the product. Nowhere is there such awareness of sustainable fashion as in the UK and the exciting green events during London Fashion Week are there to prove it!

The week kicked off with a presentation of Wildlife Works Spring 2009 collection, the urban designs include printed jersey tees and dresses, jeans, while the Black Label collection showcases the amazing skills

of the local Kenyan artisans on beautifully tailored dresses, and separates. Wildlife Works' mission is to harness the power of the global consumer to create innovative and sustainable solutions for wildlife conservation.

Tuesday started at 2pm with the Make Your Mark In Fashion show at the Hospital Club, where three pre-selected finalists showed their competing sample ranges. Miawi for Junky Styling took home the prize, which will help them develop a full collection with the help of their mentor. Miawi creates edgy, contemporary pieces using second-hand clothing sourced in Malawi and combining the recycled fabrics with traditional Malawian textiles. The runners up were R.A.J.E for THTC and Berrie for Enamore…

Continuing their busy day Enamore and Berrie had their own fabulous event that evening. Keeping with their playful 50’s pinup esthetic, Enamore showed their new collection of sexy intimates and body hugging dresses enhanced by playful shoes from Hetty Rose and Beyond Skin. The entertainment was provided by two burlesque beauties who showed would-be-wallflowers how to use the collection’s pieces to their full advantage… Berrie then came in with a collection of colorful retro-inspired pieces in their mentor’s playful spirit but with an eye for color that was all their own!
