AMBRYM
It took us a full week to recover from all the drool-worthy clothes and accessories we saw at So Ethic during the Prêt-à-Porter Paris show last weekend! And maybe also from the free champagne that was being passed around at closing time… Since we wouldn’t want you, dear readers, to suffer from the same ailment, we will share our discoveries homeopathically, so you can savor all the green fashion goodness to come! Let’s just say that eco fashion collections just keep getting better and better, we were thrilled to discover the new collections from favorites like Beyond Skin, Camilla Norrback, Ciel, Ada Zanditon and Leila Hafzi, which we’ll share with you as the weather gets warmer and the goods get closer to the shop floors.
L'ETRANGERE-SUMMER
But for now, we wanted to share a few of our brand new discoveries. These fresh eco designers don’t even have stock lists yet but any buyer worth his two cents would be seduced by their beautiful offering. Our first “coup de foudre” was the first collection of the French brand Ambrym. Designer Gabrielle Gerard interned with some of the best French ethical brands right out of fashion school (namely Tudo Bom and Sakina M’Sa) but her poetic and graphic approach is all her own. The contemporary tailoring of her garments remains very feminine and only the most luxurious fabrics are used. For her artisanal collection, Gerard has experimented with our most precious fiber – human hair – to create humorous hats and shoes that thread the line between fashion and art. From French poetic styling we go to German innovative outdoor wear with Rauffauf. We were first attracted by the beautiful simple lines of the jackets and raincoats but were really impressed to learn that the high technicality of these water repellent and warm garments was achieved with the most natural materials: bees-waxed organic cotton, manila and maize padding. Gore-tex and nylon can go take a hike!
L'ETRANGERE WINTER
Finally, we were drawn by the hustle and bustle at L’Etrangère, it seems that everyone wanted to get their hands on the extra samples available. Indeed, next winter’s collection is the most gorgeous assortment of feminine, pastel colored, ethical cashmere dresses and sweaters you’ve every seen! But while you wait, don’t miss this summer’s pretty graphic collection to get into the flirty spirit of this brand.
