After a summer of white-hot eco fashion news, September ushers in a golden line up of fashion week events and designer showcases. The official kick off to these festivities is definitely The GreenShows Eco Fashion Week, on September 12-14 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, in NYC's Chelsea Arts District. As the premiere green offshoot of NYFW's Lincoln Center's events, The GreenShows will feature a diverse line up of eco fashion designer collections to celebrate.

Now in its third season, The GreenShows Eco Fashion Week is as focused as ever on showcasing contemporary fashion that marries conscious design with environmental and social responsibility. Created as the only NYFW event that highlights eco-friendly, ethical, fair-trade, and recycled couture, this three day line up is all about identifying, supporting, and highlighting fresh new talent. All runway events will take place in The Metropolitan Pavilion’s Suite; an 8,500 square foot event space retrofitted with eco-friendly flooring and LED lighting as well as initiatives for recycling and green catering. Metropolitan Pavilion is uniquely committed to environmental practices within the limits of a landmark building.

“This is an exciting time for The GreenShows and for the selected designers to have this platform to show their creations on an international level during New York Fashion Week. Its importance in the fashion industry lies in the creations and philosophy of each of the designers, who demonstrate that high fashion can be achieved with minimal impact on the environment. There are many interpretations of what sustainable fashion is and knowing that responsible options exists, consumers will be able to make informed decisions.”Eric Dorfman, Producer and Creator of The GreenShows

All of the event’s invited designers are given the opportunity to show their entire collections to an audience of influential editors, buyers, and fashion VIPs. James Vincent, Director of Education and Artist Relations for The Makeup Show NYC , together with luxury mineral-based makeup line Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics will create the unique makeup looks for each of the designers featured. Hair Room Service, an exclusive agency that brings the salon experience directly to the client, will style hair for each of the shows.
