This weekend, don’t miss The Clothing Show at the Better Living Center in Toronto’s CNE. Although not a bona fide ethical event, the show’s aim to showcase independent designers, retailers and artisans from Ontario has attracted quite a few sustainable designers and upcycling mavens! Furthermore, in keeping with their initiative to showcase new and upcoming local talent, The Clothing Show has invited local artists to create a gallery and marketplace within the show with over 1,000 feet of art gallery space that has been made available to local artists to display and sell their work. Add to that a well curated corner of vintage and second hand clothing and the fact that most designer sell their goods at reduced show prices and we’re approaching eco shopping heaven!

Amongst the eco goodies on display will be pretty dresses by Passenger Pigeon, eco biker chic by Chopper Couture, upcycled warm-ups by Paper People Clothing, sexy urban separates by Revolve, sexy hemp dresses for all shapes and sizes by Hempress, and one-of a kind reconstructed creations by Second Life Designs.

SHOES.jpgIf, however, you just happen to be away from Toronto this weekend, there are occasions to catch up next week. First, artful upcycler Susan Harris is moving to a new store at 762 adelaide street west on October 1st and celebrating with up to 50% off merchandise this week until Saturday!

And if you didn’t know about some of the other little ethic chic gems in Toronto, make sure to check out Heart on Your Sleeve and its neighbor, vegan shoe store Left Feet as well as Green is Black, old faithful Preloved and the beautifully named League of Lovers and Thieves .
