Some of our favourite brands will be using exciting fabrics for their newest collections. Ideo goes scrap for Winter 2010/2011 with a mix of recycled fabrics. The materials are recovered from textile factories in France and are completely shredded in order to obtain new threads in any desired colour. The threads are not dyed, thereby avoiding the use of chemical products and the conservation of water used in the dying process. Lastly, the manufacturing process from the collection and shredding of the scraps of fabrics, the confection of the recycled to the confection of the garment takes place in Europe, all of which reduces transportation CO2.
Aside from their certified organic cotton, Misericordia also uses Pima cotton and modal in their lines. Unknown from the general public because of its scarcity, Pima cotton is noble and recognized for its softness, its smoothness and its quality. Thriving only under certain climatic conditions, it grows only in the region of Piura in the North of Peru, homeland of the company. Once knitted, it forms an extremely thin mesh, non-deformable, retaining particularly well heat. One of the best sorts of cotton in the world, it is extremely robust, soft for the skin as well as for the grounds. In addition, Misericordia uses modal in its pants, skirts and tee-shirts. Modal is a fibre extracted from wood cellulose, natural raw material. It is soft, flexible and silky for a great comfort and has the particularity to remain this way even after several washings. Particularly absorbent and breathing, it is ideal to wear in any season.
