It’s fun to link what we wear to the world we’re living in, so I’ve been browsing for pieces lately that play towards the themes or patterns I see all around me. I’d like to start with one of nature’s most exquisite themes: the peacock feather.

With peacock feathers the temptation is to focus on the bright jewel tones, but I love the wispy tendrils of soft brown that surround the color burst at its center. This stewart+brown wrap would have a similar effect when worn over a vivid top.

Bosworth-Tie.jpg Bright teal is found throughout the feather’s design, in bolder sections and simple outlines, it’s the color I wear most with a pair of peacock earrings I got at a local market recently. This keyhole dress from Kelly Barry captures the tone perfectly, and its feather-like frills are just enough to add some personality to a gorgeous (but comfortable!) piece.

This Loomstate dress captures the blending of purples at the heart of the feather perfectly! What a sweet way to get ready for spring.

Miro_organic_jacket_1962_1251829272.jpgAlas, spring’s not here yet…so while it’s still cold try this rich hoodie by Raw Earth & Wild Sky reminiscent of wandering through enchanted woods where a peacock might just happen to cross your path…

Necklace.jpg There are some wonderful accessories out there with actual peacock adornments, but alas none that I could find from the eco fashion world. I did find these enamel necklaces in a peacock-like pattern from Mata Traders on WorldofGood.com, along with one last peacock-inspired print in a perfectly comfortable (yet unique) t-shirt from stewart+brown.

Eco Fashion Fact

Bamboo Fabric

Bamboo is the fastest growing wooden plant in the world; it grows in many different countries and climates. Its quick growth (up to 3-4 feet a day) and its resistance to bugs and sickness make it an ideal eco crop. However, there is a lot of debate on whether the processing of the bamboo plant into fabric is truly sustainable. Bamboo fabric is made of 100% bamboo...
