Natural Beauty Product Must-haves
Written by Eco Fashion World - Sunday, 24 April 2016

The movement toward more natural, chemical-free, ethically-made products is becoming more and more widespread. The beauty industry is riddled with products filled with cheap, toxic and ineffective ingredients. The task to find products that are healthy to use, actually work, and are affordable, can be grossly discouraging. We are here to take some of the guess-work out of finding a natural beauty regimen that works for you. Here are a few of our tried-tested-and-loved favorites.

Mad Hippie offers a complete line of safe and effective skin care products chockfull of antioxidants, peptides, bioavailable vitamins and alpha hydroxy acids. They do not include petrochemicals, parabens, sodium laurel sulfate, or synthetic fragrances. The products go on light, they smell wonderful, and results are noticeable almost immediately. If that’s not enough to talk you into trying the line, which includes creams, cleanser, facial oils, serums, and SPF cream, Mad Hippie is taking their feeling of responsibility to our planet a step further, by switching to BPA-free, fully recyclable airless pumps, printing with soy inks, and running their facility off of alternative energy.

The Cream Cleanser has Jojoba, Green Tea, Macadamia Oil, and Orchid Extract. The Face Cream has Peptides, Acai, Argan Oil, and Resveratrol. The Eye Cream has Peptides, Ceramides, Pomegranate, and White Tea. Try those three Mad Hippie products and we can pretty much guarantee you will be inclined to try the rest of the line. (Items retail between $15.99 - $34.99)

Formulated with natural ingredients, such as Vitamin E, Omega-3 and Omega-6 essential fatty acids to moisturize dry skin and help prevent future dryness, Trilipiderm’s All-Body Moisture Retention Creme with Vitamin D and SPF 30 and All-Body Moisture Retention Creme for Relief of Dry Skin help replace essential lipids in the skin that have been lost due to the use of strong soaps, over-exposure to the sun, or other harsh weather conditions. The lotions are non-greasy, absorbed quickly, and free of parabens, petrolatum, mineral oil, silicon and phthalates. While applying the lotion, you can feel the immediate relief. With summer swiftly approaching and the almost inevitable increased exposure to the elements of the outdoors, it’s important to keep your skin moisturized and protected.  (Items retail between $5.00 - $50.00)

Eye Authority from HydroPeptide could quickly become a must-have-at-all-times product in your beauty bag. Blended to include 13 peptides including Relaxing Peptides, Anti-Puffiness Peptides, Anti-Dark Circle Peptides, Anti-Glycation Peptides, Lifting Peptides, Illuminating Peptides and Preservative Peptides, this cream is made to address every issue you could possibly have with lines, puffiness or dark circles around your eyes. It also contains Hesperidin, an antioxidant derived from steeping citrus peels in hot baths and known for its body-warming and circulatory benefits; crushed pearls, rich in minerals and amino acids; sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid) and ceramides. The cream is very light and comes in a little pump, which easily dispenses the small amount you need.  (Retails for $74.00)

Sometimes you just need a little extra, quick boost to a particular area of your face when you are starting to see lines. Enter the Facial Patches and Rose Water Hydrator from Frownies. Rose Water Hydrator is used to activate the patches and add an antioxidant treatment to the skin. You wet the patch with the hydrator, smooth out the skin on your forehead or between your eyebrows, apply the patch and hold it down for 10-15 seconds, then leave it on for a minimum of three hours (or overnight). The patch holds the creases of any wrinkles flat and relaxed while in use, which in turn relaxes muscle memory and decreases the appearance of the lines. The patch allows the skin to breathe. The Rose Water Hydrator ingredients include Rose Hydrosol, Organic Aloe Vera, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin E.  (Rose Water starts at retail of $5.00 for a small container, and the patches start at retail $19.95, various sizes and combo packs available)

Your hair suffers damage from exposure to sun, wind, cold, chlorine swimming pools, harsh hair products, and more. Suitable for all hair types, Sapien Women Split end Repair by SURYA Brasil softens and repairs split ends. This natural, organic and vegan hair-saving product contains organic oils including Argan, Pracaxi, Madadamia and Buriti, as well as Vitamin E and plant-based silicon derived from rapeseed (Brassica napus) a bright yellow flowering member of the mustard or cabbage family (Brassicaceae). The concoction smells like a fresh blend of coconut and mango.  (Item retails for $32.79)

Jane Iredale’s BeautyPrep line includes a no-rinse Facial Cleanser, Face Toner, and Face Moisturizer. If you are looking for something that is easy to use, light, and will leave you feeling refreshed, this may be your go-to regimen. The no-rinse cleanser is great for traveling. The scent of the products are calming and refreshing all on their own. The moisturizer in particular contains four Rose Stem Cell Extracts, including White Rose, Damask Rose, Rosa Canina (Rosehips), and Pale Rose, and is naturally scented with Lemon Grass Extract. This trio is designed to optimize the benefits of the Jane Iredale mineral makeup line so your makeup goes on smoother and lasts longer.

When researching beauty products, remember big names don't always equal a good product. Ingredients to avoid include parabens, phthalates, petroleum byproducts, formaldehyde, and synthetic fragrances. Do your research, focus on natural ingredients and your specific skin-type needs.  (Items retail between $28.00 - $45.00)
