Combine modern and ballet dance background with a healthy lifestyle, a lifelong interest in fashion, industry experience, and the concerns of a new mom, and the result is an extremely sweet, organic and creative collection of eco baby clothes. Sweden-born Johanna Lillpers relocated to the US in 1996 and brought with her the passion to support environmental issues which is widely known to be of high importance in her homeland. Through years of work in the dance industry followed by several years of fashion industry experience, it was the birth of her daughter Emma that finally set flame to the fuel she had been carrying for so long. Lillpers founded Vyssan Lull (vyyschan loull) named for the pronunciation of a Swedish lullaby, in 2009.

Vyssan Lull, a collection of Scandinavian inspired eco-friendly baby clothes which operates out of Jersey City, New Jersey is an impressive blend of brands, hand-picked using specific criteria. Some of the characteristics Lillpers looks for in brands for Vyssan Lull are: organic or eco friendly materials, colorful and bold prints, unique Scandinavian design, fair trade practice in manufacture, high quality and durability, and mix and match-ability as all items are selected to form a cohesive collection of brands. Lillpers also tries to incorporate one-of-a-kind items handmade by designer moms. Lillpers says, “There are many gorgeous designs out there but if they do not follow the high standards I have set for Vyssan Lull, I will not include them.”

Urban Elk – With a signature elk print or a variety of other modern design animal prints on solid bodysuits, bibs, tops and more, and adorable signature elk buttons on overalls, pants and dresses, Urban Elk has clearly set itself apart in the baby clothing industry. Constructed of organic cotton, and manufactured through sustainable production with dyes and prints using soft, water-based coloring, Urban Elk baby items are chemical-free, comfortable, practical and clearly in tune with nature.

Ida T  – Danish designed fun prints including happy cats, birds, hippos and monkeys, tell a story of oneness with animals. Ida T designs are based on the philosophy that animals inspire positivity and open communication between adults and children. Green Cotton  – A division of Novotex, one of the first companies to produce clothing from certified organic cotton, creates fresh and vibrant collections for babies. Prints include colorful illustrations of clouds, roses, houses, dots and stripes and the styles suit indoor and outdoor baby activities in a variety of climates. Including pants with little knee patches, dresses and bodysuits with snaps for comfort and changing ease, Green Cotton’s years of attention to environmental awareness and superior quality shine through in each and every detail.

Nowali – Moccasins for little feet, handmade in Sweden for over 50 years. An amazing combination between a sock and a shoe, they stay on and support baby's feet and they are made with non-skid leather soles which are soft and pliable, yet thick enough to make them sturdy and long lasting. The upper "sock" is made of organic cotton and features double elastic at the ankle to keep them from falling off. They fit so softly and comfortably that most kids don’t want to take them off. URBAN ELK

Johanna Lillpers started Vyssan Lull with a vision that included the growth of a business, but more than that, a vision of living and promoting an organic lifestyle, by reconnecting with the eco friendly roots she was raised with and building upon those roots. She saw the ocean of materialism, fast food, city garbage and other wasteful lifestyles that are affecting our world and chose to find a way to return her focus toward nature. She began composting, growing her own vegetables in Jersey City, and raising her daughter according to a healthy lifestyle. Using Vyssan Lull as her magic tool, Lillpers hopes to spread her desire for healthy living and a healthy world beyond the boundaries of a beautifully composed baby clothing store, stretching to affect lifestyle choices of each and every person across the globe who wants to live well while caring for our planet.
