| THE TREND ISSUE, MARCH 2009 |
|
What’s in a trend? Today, a fashion trend might be a color, a shape or even a concept…like eco fashion. But isn’t it telling that the word itself comes from the old English word “trendan” meaning “to turn” or “to revolve”? Trends indeed come and go, but they always return eventually. Like a tornado, they take us for a spin of buying, discarding and buying something new. But what happens when you reach the eye of the tornado, that tiny point of stillness where trends collide? As the Fall 2009 fashion shows come to a close, we let you in on how an editor’s mind might create a trend based on different inspirations in our Favorite Things. And what happens when an editor turns eco fashion retailer? Our Store of the Month: Fashion Conscience, looks like a glossy fashion magazine where you can actually shop the clothes right off a “most wanted” list! In The New Catwalk, we look at the tight bond between fashion, the street and the Internet. Finally, our designer interview with SANS makes us think beyond labels about the true nature of sustainability. Enjoy the ride and in Garance Doré’s words, go “shop your closet” for tomorrow’s trends! AS A SPECIAL OFFER TO OUR READERS, FASHION-CONSCIENCE HAS MADE AN EXCLUSIVE COUPON AVAILABLE! USE ECO15 AND YOU WILL RECEIVE 15% OFF YOUR PURCHASE AT FASHION-CONSCIENCE! |
