DUTCH AGENDA

The Netherlands rock when it comes to eco fashion events at the moment. This weekend during Inside Design Amsterdam 2010, EFW blogger Annouk Post invites you to the hotel room exhibition ‘Sustainable Luxury’. This alluring yearly event is organized by Dutch glossy ELLE Living and will take place in the beautiful Lloyd Hotel. About 10.000 visitors and a big network of international press will visit this event where many designers and brands will showcase their products. ELLE asked Annouk Post to present her vision on sustainability in one of the enchanting hotel rooms. She invites visitors in her cupboardbed (with organic blankets by Yumeko) to tell you about new values of luxury in food, fashion, products and art.

ADA ZANDITON SS 2011 PYRAMORA COLLECTION

AdaZanditon_leadimage.jpg

The future of conscious fashion is now teeming with ancient touches as illustrated at London Fashion Week (LFW) this past Monday with Ada Zanditon’s ‘Pyramora’ S/S 2011 presentation. EFW has been following Ada’s journey since 2008 , and this award-winning ethical fashion designer has boldly ventured above and beyond our expectations with her ability to fuse textile innovation with sustainable fabric sourcing and fair trade standards. This latest collection by Ada features the hybridization of themes linked to modern day eco travel in Egypt and the fragile coral reefs of the Red Sea. Rich in details and (bio)diverse in attitude, this talented young designer does not waste a bit of material in the conceptual and structural execution of her avant-garde ideas.

A preview of a thrilling new alliance between swimwear brand Speedo and sustainable fashion label, From Somewhere, was just recently revealed at Estethica, the British Fashion Council’s ethical fashion area at London Fashion Week.

The ‘From Somewhere with Speedo’ collaboration represents a series of creativity-infused projects commissioned by Speedo through which unsold stock and surplus pieces from the Speedo LZR Racer suit (discontinued in January 2010 for racers due to revisions announced by FINA, swimming’s governing body) will be used to fabricate new styles. The limited edition capsule collection that is still in development includes a statement dress constructed purely of Speedo LZR Racer suits which will be auctioned for charity.
