GERONIMO COLLECTION
Coachella
kicked off the summer music festival season and we now have four months
of sticky and sweet musical nights to look forward to.
If you admire the style of indie ladies like Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley your first stop should the newly launched Geronimo Collection
designed by the band’s longtime stylist Jenny Reyes. This music
enthusiast spent years touring the country and creating one-of-a-kind
stage costumes for the band by reworking vintage garments found in
second hand stores throughout
the country. We loved the balance of vintage and edgy style and asked
Jenny to tell us more about how her collection is produced, here is her
answer: “All the fabrics and buttons used for the whole collection is
vintage dead stock. All pieces are limited edition, since I only have a
limited supply of the fabrics. I decided to use vintage dead stock
mainly because I liked the idea of my clothing line being eco friendly
and not leaving any hardships on other generations to provide for
themselves. The collection is locally produced in Los Angeles and I
have no plans of outsourcing to China or anywhere else for that
matter.” What’s not to love!
And
Jenny is not the only one on this path, the quintessential rock chick
has always been an up-cycling maven and therefore quite naturally
green. While browsing some Coachella “street style” shots on Style.com we noticed that most of the ladies snapped were basically wearing some combination of vintage, American Apparel
and some high street finds. A few standouts: the stunning girl in the
yellow sarong “from her hometown in Rwanda” is the essence of
effortless style, the girl in a vintage white shirt, shorts and boots
who shows us how second hand doesn’t have to be over the top, and
finally, nothing says summer cute like mixing a floral vintage dress
with chunky bracelets from Australian eco jeweler Dinosaur Designs!
