The reality of a capsule wardrobe: you, paying for excess baggage weight at check in… Well, fret no more, there is now a real world solution. A former architect with a PHD in “fashion customization” and years of design experience, Bernice Pan is a lady with many tricks up her sleeves, or for that matter, in her cuffs, pockets and pleats. In 2006, she launched her customizable demi-couture brand DePLOY to offer solutions to the sustainable fashionista who wants more from a garment than a one-time kick. All Deploy creations are in fact two or three garments in one. This multi-functional and interactive approach to dressing up soon found a large fan base in London and this summer, Deploy had to grow out of its original studio. Last week saw the launch of their new flagship Marylebone boutique, a brand new online shop and the unveiling of their Spring 2009 collection. In true original style, the interior design follows the spirit of the brand. Commenting on these big changes Berenice Pan says: “The unique interior design is a fully disassemble-able shop interior that reflects the brand ethos of DePLOY demi-couture; ‘one outfit, numerous possibilities’. Its modular, flexible and re-useable concept means that all the clothes rails, display panels and mirrors can be readily removed and re-dressed for a different spatial or location arrangement. It allows customers to ‘fashion their look’ in an appropriate environment -- ‘a place to create, not just to consume”.
