Event Description:
Save wildlife habitat as you shop for hip used clothing at a bargain. In celebration of Earth Day, all proceeds from Buffalo Exchange’s Dollar Day Sale benefit The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation's largest animal protection organization. All sale items offered for one dollar each at your local Buffalo Exchange on April 16 will go to The HSUS’ ‘Saving Animals by Saving Land’ programs, providing safe places for wildlife to live. These programs are the Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust, that permanently protects land for wildlife, and The HSUS’s Urban Wildlife Sanctuary program, that can help you turn even the smallest yard or apartment balcony into an actual sanctuary for birds, butterflies or other wild neighbors. Buffalo Exchange offices in Tucson & Tempe are certified Urban Wildlife Sanctuaries. Earth Day benefits at Buffalo Exchange stores have raised over $310,000 for environmental causes since 1997. For more information, visit www.humanesociety.org/buffaloexchange.

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is the nation's largest animal protection organization — backed by 11 million Americans, or one of every 28. For more than a half-century, The HSUS has been fighting for the protection of all animals through advocacy, education and hands-on programs. Buffalo Exchange is a sustainable company that works to protect the environment by reusing and recycling clothing. The store donates to local nonprofit agencies in the community through its Tokens for Bags® program that has generated nearly $380,000 for hundreds of local nonprofit agencies since 1994, saving 7.6 million bags. Shoppers are encouraged to accept a token instead of a bag for purchases, and Buffalo Exchange donates five cents to a charity of the customer's choice.

Buffalo Exchange is unique because clothing and accessories are bought, sold and traded locally with store customers. Used clothes can be traded for any item in the store, including jewelry and brand new clothing. The ever-changing inventory includes designer wear, basics, vintage, jeans and one-of-a-kind items. As of March 2011, the family-owned resale clothing business has 40 stores and 2 franchises in 14 states, $64.4 million a year in revenue. Based in Tucson, Arizona, Buffalo Exchange is an independent and privately held company and the founders manage the day-to-day business. For more, visit www.buffaloexchange.com.
