In a second step, Kachile’s Belfast-based fashion designer has already createda stunning A/W 2010 collection that will be recreated by Bassam locals to create jobsand bring new dressmaking skills in the styles of international catwalks totailors talented in African styles. Overall Kachile’s active mission is tostimulate and generate sustainable businesses locally. AnEthical and Fabulous Opportunity At Kachile we strive to stimulate entrepreneurialthinking and activity for job creation so that the poor can lift themselves outof poverty. As an intern at Kachile,your work will be helping to improve livelihoods in West Africa. You willpioneer a pro-poor socially inclusivefashion collection made from traditional pagne wax cloth by local tailors.Your internship will improve entrepreneurial activity at the community level,build fair and inclusive markets, and celebrate the jazzy patterns of pagne torenew local pride - the possibilities are endless. As an internat Kachile, you will workalongside the founders in conceiving, developing and implementing innovativecampaigns. As a Technical Supervisor on our fair trade production line, you willensure that the local tailors and seamstresses adhere to high and uniformed standards of sewing and finishing. Youwill offer technical advice that these workers will use in future collections.As more highly skilled fair wage and trade options become available, designers throughout theworld will be able to source production and materials that respect the worldand its inhabitants. It is essential thatdeveloping nations have the opportunity to compete in the global fashionindustry and enjoy economic growth through their talents.
POSITION: CLOTHES MAKING SUPERVISOR Requirements · Demonstrable knowledge of dress making from pastcollections and creations · Advanced courtier skills · Graduates of Fashion preferred · Excellent written andverbal communication skills in English and French · Outstandingorganizational, interpersonal skills · Ability to lead andsupervise to achieve high and uniformed finishing of our designer’s clothesamongst the local workers Tasks · Recreating our UK designer’s A/W collection withBassam tailors and seamstresses · Advising and directing the local tailors onperfectly replicating the more complicated folds, cuts, and details · Motivating the local tailors in improving theirskills to more Western-style creations · Fine finishing the pieces to a perfectly homogenizedhigh standard, fit for sale · Helping Kachile produce documents for competitionsand awards Startdate: Last week of June Salary: Non-remunerated.Full assistance with visas, accommodation, and logistics provided.
