The good news is that we can be all of that while limiting our footprint and being friendly on our wallet! Instead of contributing to the junk mountain by buying disposable plastics, the way to go this year is to Do It Yourself. Go trick-or-treat-ing as an ethical fairy with these self-made fairy wings. In search of more DIY inspiration we found our Queen of Halloween not amongst the grandchildren of the Celts who originally brought us this holiday, but in Paraguay! This country is the home of Giannina Lezcano Martinez who has developed a large Internet following around her sexy "Do It Yourself" videos. In the videos, she shows old clothing being "repurposed" and "upcycled" into fashionable garments. Just in time for Halloween, Giannina has released a series of DIY Halloween Costume videos that show you how to make a great costume for a couple of dollars. EFW spoke to Giannina from her home in Paraguay.

GLM: My friends told me me about Kipkay and his videos on youtube and all around the net. They know that I always liked to make clothing myself so I made a video of me making a dress out of an old T-shirt and I couldn't believe the amount of views and how many people sent me messages. I love to play with my Mac so I decided to make a webpage with all DIY videos to show my work. EFW: Do you get many emails from women such as yourself who like to make or modify their own clothes? GLM: Yes a lot, I’m working with a Latin company called Quepasa and I find that people send me messages and ideas all the time on my community profile. EFW: Why do you think people are so interested in DIY? GLM: This is especially the case for girls: we spend a lot of money on clothes. But why not save money changing your old dress into something cool?

GLM: Do’t throw away any t-shirt, you can do so many things with a T-shirt! EFW: You’re a web-superstar by now, what message do you want to give your viewers? GLM: I don't feel like a superstar but I feel that I can teach something useful to people. My message would be: We can be very fashionable and sexy being green!
